Islamabad (IINA) – Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said his country would never compromise its nuclear program and would provide necessary resources for the program, news agencies reported.
During a briefing to the upper house of the parliament on public debt and economy, the minister categorically rejected the reports that Pakistan would roll back its nuclear program and said that it was a matter of country’s security and sovereignty.
“We will not roll back our nuclear program even if our debts swell to $100 trillion dollars,” Dar said, dismissing outright Western media reports that suggest Islamabad could barter its nuclear arsenal for dollars.
“This is a program of our security, and it is a national responsibility to protect it,” he told lawmakers, adding: “All political parties of Pakistan share the ownership of our nuclear program.”
