Over 800,000 Malaysians barred from leaving country since 2011

Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – A total 827,921 Malaysians have been blacklisted by the Immigration Department since 2011 and barred from leaving the country for various offences, BERNAMA reported.
In a written reply to a lawmaker who wanted to know the number of Malaysians who had been blacklisted and barred from leaving the country since 2011, the Home Ministry said the names of 200,727 of them were blacklisted for bankruptcy, defaulters of education loan (118,892 people), security offence (520 people) and the remaining for various other offences.
Those who have been blacklisted are barred from leaving the country, except with the permission of the relevant authorities, the ministry said in its written reply which was distributed at the parliament lobby here Monday.
