Cairo (IINA) – Dr Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL) and chairman of Islamic Universities League, stressed the importance of his current visit to Egypt in supporting joint Islamic action and discussing many issues and contemporary problems that include ways to dealing with terrorism and extremism, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
This came in remarks he made on Wednesday on the sidelines of the International Conference on "The Role of Media to Combat Terrorism", organized by the League of Islamic Universities in collaboration with the University of Assiut.
Dr Al-Turki explained that the aim of his current visit to Egypt is to chair the meeting of the Executive Council of the Islamic Universities League, noting that the visit comes at the start of an African tour that also includes Nigeria, Mauritania and Senegal.
He highlighted the role played by the MWL to unite Muslim scholars and clarify their responsibility to unite the Islamic nation and warn Muslims of the risks and dangers they face, as well as showing the true face of Islam and working to fortify Muslim communities against the threat of terrorism, violence and sectarianism.
