Oman to host CISM World Soccer Cup 2017

Muscat (IINA) – The Sultanate of Oman will host the 3rd version of the the International Military Sports Council (CISM)'s World Military Cup for Soccer 2017 from January 13 to 29, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
This was announced here during a joint press conference between Air Commodore Maktoum bin Salim Al Mazroui, assistant chief of Staff for Training and Joint Exercises and head of the organizing committee for the World Military Cup for Soccer 2017 and Abdul Hakeem bin Hamad Al Shano, chairman of the CISM.
Participants in the tournament include 16 military national teams that qualified from the pre-qualifying stage, as well as to the host country and the champion of the previous version.
Acting Director of Military Sports Khalid bin Ali Al Jabri said that coordination has been maintained with the Omani Football Association (OFA), the Ministry of Sports Affairs, and the Olympic Committee to benefit from the experiences. Three stadiums were assigned to the tournament, namely Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Police Stadium, and A'Seeb Stadium in addition to a number of sub playgrounds.
It is noteworthy that Oman's military football team won Asian Cup Qualifiers for the World Military Soccer Cup (CISM), organized in the Sultanate in 2013. The team won the second place in the World Military Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
