OIC happy over the conduct of elections in CAR

Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its satisfaction over the conduct of the general election in the Central African Republic (CAR) and congratulated the country's interim authorities following the successful holding of the 2nd round of the presidential election along with the 1st round of the parliamentary elections on Sunday.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani commended the spirit of maturity and responsibility which prevailed before and after the polls and congratulated the international community for its relentless support for the country. He called on all the CAR stakeholders to continue to work for a prosperous future by turning their back decisively on the events of the past and focusing on the progress of the CAR and its people who yearn for peace, national reconciliation and socioeconomic development.
Madani also reiterated the OIC’s commitment to cooperate with the new authorities in CAR in order to restore durable peace and stability to the country.
