Paris, (IINA) - Morocco, the only stable country in the region, is “the key player” in the struggle against extremism and terrorism, Morocco World News reported citing the Head of the French Observatory of Geopolitical Studies Charles Saint-Prot.
"Thanks to Morocco's clear and strong position against extremism. Morocco stands as a champion of moderate Islam and has acquired unrivalled competence in supervising the religious sphere," the French expert said in an interview published on Sunday at the “Theatrum Belli” website, which focuses on defense and security issues.
The French expert also noted that the Kingdom is on the front line in the fight against extremist propaganda. Saint-Prot pointed out that the supervision of the religious field and action conducted under the authority of the King, Commander of the Faithful, places Morocco at the forefront in the struggle against extremist deviance.
The French pundit also stressed that Morocco plays an important role in the stability of the Sahel-Saharan region, noting that the Kingdom provides technical assistance, including consultants and experts, to African countries.
“Moreover, its highly effective security services cooperate closely with their European counterparts, including France and Spain,” he said, recalling their valuable contribution in the dismantling of terrorist networks in France, Belgium and Spain.
