Jordanian FM, Yemeni counterpart discuss situation in Yemen

Amman, (IINA) - Jordanian Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh on Sunday met with his Yemeni counterpart Abdul Malik Mekhlafi. During the meeting Judeh reiterated Jordan's support fpr the legitimate government in Yemen and hoped the return of the country's stability, sovereignty and unity, Petra reported.
They discussed ways to strengthen Jordanian-Yemeni ties and the security and humanitarian challenges Yemen is facing as well as Jordan's key role in Yemen's development process.
During the meeting, Judeh expressed the hope that the political process in Yemen will be put on track based on the agreed principles, UN Security Council resolutions and the Gulf Initiative leading to a political process to end the crisis that started after the coup.
He noted that Jordan, as a member of the Security Council in the past two years, had participated in drafting and endorsing the council's resolution 2216 on Yemen, stressing the need to fully implement it "in a way to allow the return of Yemen's stability, protect its territorial unity and stop the expansion of terrorist groups in the country".
From his side, the Yemeni foreign minister briefed Judeh on the outcome of the Yemeni dialogue and the future of the Geneva peace talks as well as hindrances placed by the "coup leaders" to block any attempt to stabilize the country.
He commended Jordan's diplomacy and role within the Arab coalition to restore Yemen's legitimate government and bring about security and stability in the country.
