Tehran (IINA) – Head of Iran's National Carpet Center Hamid Kargar announced that the first shipment of Iranian hand-woven carpets had been exported to the US, MEHR News Agency (MNA) reported on Saturday.
Kargar referred to the licensing of Iranian carpet exports to America as a result of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) implementation. He added that “Iranian hand-woven carpets have retaken the route to old and traditional markets and the first export shipment of the product was delivered in Los Angles through the port of Hamburg."
He further asserted that over the past few years, competitors have taken the lead in managing to gain a good share of U.S. carpet market, noting that India has become the number one exporter of carpet to the United States, according to the U.S. customs statistics.
The official said that his country seeks to achieve a reasonable growth in the exports of Persian carpets to the American market, adding that “the abolition of economic sanctions is promising for boosting exports of the product due to reduction in transport and insurance expenditures.”
