OIC denounces attacks on Saudi embassy, consulate in Iran

Jeddah (IINA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its denunciation of the attacks on the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and the Saudi Consulate in Mashhad.
The OIC General Secretariat called for the need to respect the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and International Law that protects the inviolability of diplomatic missions, which is binding for all in accordance with the obligation of immunity and respect to accredited diplomatic missions in any country.
The General Secretariat expressed its support to the efforts of Saudi Arabia in combating terrorism and violent extremism. It also confirmed its commitment and adherence to the OIC Charter that requires “strictly adhering to the principle of non-interference in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any State” and to the principle of “non-interference in matters which are within their domestic jurisdiction.”
Furthermore, the General Secretariat emphasized the importance of boosting relations of cooperation and brotherhood among the OIC member states, working on concerted efforts in the face of common challenges, combating terrorism, extremist ideology and confronting the risks of sectarian division. It also urged for acting together to unify ranks, speaking as one and bridging gaps in points of view as well as stressing on what unites the Muslim world's common goals and values.
