Ankara (IINA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Wednesday that the execution of 47 convicts in Saudi Arabia was an “internal legal matter” of the Kingdom.
“The executions in Saudi Arabia are an internal legal matter. Whether you approve of the decision or not is a separate issue,” Erdoğan said in his first reaction to the controversy which sparked tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Erdoğan dismissed, in his televised speech, suggestions that the executions were aimed at provoking tensions among Muslims, voicing his conviction that a “master mind” is responsible for ongoing sectarian conflict in the Muslim world.
The Turkish president also said the attack on the Saudi missions by protesters in Iran was “unacceptable”. He called on countries in the region to work wisely and rationally to ease the diplomatic row between the two nations, pointing out that the crisis between Saudi Arabia and Iran would increase tension in the region.
