New Delhi (IINA) – India and Pakistan are likely to hold foreign secretary-level talks next month, Xinhua News Agency reported citing highly placed sources on Saturday.
"The talks may be held in Islamabad on January 15. Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar will go there to represent his country," Xinhua quoted the sources as saying.
However, there has been no official confirmation on it, just like Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's surprise stopover in Pakistan on Friday on his way back home from Afghanistan.
Bilateral relations between the two countries have begun to improve since Modi held talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of Paris climate change conference on November 30. The meeting was followed by national security adviser-level talks in Bangkok.
Just days after Bangkok’s meeting, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Pakistan and held talks with her Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia Conference, jointly hosted by Pakistan and Afghanistan.
