Aden, (IINA) - Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Latif Al-Zayani, government of Saudi Arabia and UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash have all condemned on Sunday the assassination of Governor of Aden Major General Jafar Mohammad Saad and six of his guards, news agencies reported.
GCC’s General Secretary described the assassination of the governor as an appalling crime against all human and ethical principles and values. He also urged members of the GCC to support any security measures taken by Yemen to protect the safety of its citizens and residents.
According to SPA, an official at the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed Saudi Arabia’s denunciation of the crimes, adding that the hand of treachery and treason will not deter the coalition’s efforts to support the legitimate government in Yemen and restore security and stability throughout Yemen.
On his part, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs also condemned the act, saying that Aden’s governor was targeted “by the hands of treacherous terrorists today (Sunday)”, WAM reported.
Gargash said: “These crimes will not discourage our collective resolve to restore security and stability throughout the brotherly nation of Yemen”. He added that the UAE and the Saudi-led coalition will spare no effort in its quest to achieve these goals, stressing that terrorist crimes that seek to undermine them will not deter the solid and common objective of the honorable Yemeni people and the Arab coalition.
Al-Zayani, Gargash and Saudi’s government have offered their deep condolences to the Yemeni president, the Yemeni government, and the families of the deceased.
