Amman, (IINA) - Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) and USAID signed an agreement on Wednesday to provide JNCW with technical support, communications and networking through the USAID Takamol Program, Petra news agency reported.
USAID Takamol aims to support JNCW's role as the primary national policy institution safeguarding women's rights and gender equality in Jordan.
In the presence of Princess Basma Bint Talal and U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Alice Well, JNCW Secretary General Dr. Salma Nims said this agreement sheds light on JNCW's role in advancing the role of Jordanian women in sustainable and inclusive national development.
More importantly, the agreement underlines JNCW's position as the go-to policy institution creating dialogue between government and civil society on female empowerment issues.
"USAID will support JNCW in responding to the changing socio-economic landscape in Jordan that is affecting women's well-being and empowerment. This strategic partnership will promote gender equality and build the necessary infrastructure to empower women on all levels," said USAID Mission Director Jim Barnhart.
USAID Takamol and JNCW aim to strengthen the role of women in various sectors and provide specialized training programs to enhance women's leadership capabilities based on local and international best practices.
