Jakarta (IINA) – The Indonesian government will propose the handover of the archives of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to the UNESCO to be accepted as Memory of The World or the world heritage, ANTARA News reported.
"After successfully proposed the Asia-African Conference (AAC) archives as a world heritage, Indonesia will also propose the NAM archives to be included in the Memory of the World," Chief of National Archive Agency Mustari Irawan said here on Friday.
He stated that the proposal of the NAM archives will be forwarded during the period of 2016-2017.
"We will propose the archives through a joint nomination with several hosts of NAM Summit such as Serbia, Algeria, and Egypt,” Irawan said, noting that the proposed archives was that of the NAM Conference hosted by Indonesia during the period from 18 to 24 April 1955.
Irawan said the archives of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) and that of the Non-Aligned Movement have their significant roles and international values, adding that the first archives, which was proposed by National Archive Agency as a world heritage in 2012, was inscribed on the world heritage list after it was approved by UNESCO in October 2015 in Abu Dhabi. He expressed his country’s hope for the second archives to be accepted.
