Antalya (IINA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has welcomed the leaders of the countries and heads of international organizations for the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit, set to begin on Sunday in Antalya, Turkey’s resort destination and gateway to its southern Mediterranean region.
On the first day of the two-day meeting, global economic powers are expected to discuss issues pertaining to development and climate change as well as issues of global challenges including terrorism and refugee crisis.
They are set to meet together in a session entitled “Inclusive Growth: Global Economy, Strategies of Growth and Strategies of Employment and Investment”. Leaders will discuss the issues of “Global Challenges: Terrorism, Refugee Crisis”.
On the second day, they are scheduled to discuss the issues of financial arrangements, international tax agenda, fight against corruption and International Monetary Fund (IMF) reform, in a session entitled “Increasing Strength”. Following the discussion on trade and energy issues, Antalya Declaration and Action Plan will be adopted.
At the conclusion of the summit, China, which will assume the 2016 G20 Presidency, will unveil its priorities for the G20 agenda and Leaders’ 2016 Summit in Hangzhou, a growing knowledge e-commerce hub on the country's eastern coast.
President Erdoğan is slated to hold a press conference and the outcome of Antalya Summit will be announced to the world.
It is to be noted that Turkey assumed the G20 Presidency on 1st December 2014, during which it pursued an ambitious agenda and an intense work plan, through collective action, has paved the way toward achieving the overarching aim of the G20: strong, sustainable and balanced growth.
