Aden, (IINA) - King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works, Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Foundation have dispatched emergency relief aid to the people on the Yemeni island of Socotra, which was hit by the tropical cyclone Chapala, WAM reported.
An air bridge is also being put together to dispatch relief materials to the affected people in the Yemeni provinces of Al Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa and East Socotra. The three humanitarian bodies are working together to alleviate the suffering of the population there by preparing tons of relief materials, which include foodstuff, medicine, blankets, and clothes.
Following a warning issued by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) of a high-impact tropical cyclone named Chapala forming in the Arabian Sea and heading rapidly towards Oman and Yemen, King Salman Center initiated emergency and disaster management preparations, in co-ordination with the legitimate government in Yemen and with the international relief organizations there.
The response by the ERC, Khalifa Foundation and King Salman Center came as part of the Humanitarian Coalition works, which was formed to help mitigate the effects of the cyclone on the people of Yemen.
