Dubai, (IINA) - UAE's Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al-Maktoum launched on Sunday the National Search and Rescue Center (NSRC) at the Dubai Airshow. The new body will report to the Supreme National Security Council, WAM reported.
The inauguration of the Center was attended by Sheikh Hamdan Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; Sheikh Hazza Al-Nahyan, National Security Advisor; Sheikh Tahnoun Al-Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor as well as other senior officials.
The NSRC is the first of its kind in the UAE, and it will be based in Abu Dhabi. It will be in charge of all search and rescue operations in the state, and it will apply the highest standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Commenting on the launch of the Center, Sheikh Hazza thanked UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Al-Nahyan as well as a number of Emirati officials for their keenness to keep pace with the political, economic and social developments internally and externally in order to be prepared for the regional and global changes.
