Chad’s President, OIC chief discuss key issues of Muslim world

Jeddah (IINA) – Chadian President Idriss Deby, who is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia, received Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani and his accompanying delegation here on Tuesday.
Madani commended the leadership of President Deby and the role of Chad in supporting initiatives of the OIC and its programs. He briefed the President on the main issues of concern to the OIC in various domains, including regional and international issues as well as the ways to consolidate OIC and Chad relationship and cooperation. The Secretary General also invited Deby to attend the next 13th ordinary summit of the OIC to be held in Turkey.
On his part, President Deby expressed his appreciation of the OIC and its various activities and affirmed that his country will continue to play an effective role in the Muslim world. He explained the efforts and challenges facing his government to eradicate the terrorist group Boko Haram which targets young people. He added that defeating Boko Haram cannot be done by weapons alone but requires special attention to development projects that can absorb the energy of the youth.
