Makkah (IINA) – The Muslim World League (MWL) condemned the Russian military intervention in Syria, considering it as an escalation that will trigger more bloodshed and killing of innocent people.
This came in a statement issued by MWL Secretary General Dr Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Turki, a copy of which was obtained by the International Islamic News Agency (IINA).
"The use of the Russian aviation by Syrian regime to kill and exterminate its people is another crime to be added to the crimes committed by the Assad regime against the Syrian Muslim people," MWL chief said.
Dr Al-Turki, who is also member of the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars, demanded the international community and relevant international organizations to shoulder their responsibilities toward this unacceptable intervention by Russia, and held the international community responsible for the consequences.
He also urged the world's major powers, which defend justice and lift the oppression from the peoples, to do their duties toward Russia's military involvement in Syria.
Al-Turki further called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as the Arab and Islamic governments to exercise the possible pressure on Russia to stop this interference and stand by the oppressed Syrian people and to support them by all possible means.
