Manama declared capital of Gulf Tourism 2016

Doha (IINA) – Tourism Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states approved a recommendation to name the Bahraini capital of Manama as the Capital of Gulf Tourism 2016, given the city's tourism and cultural potential.
This came at the conclusion of the 2nd meeting of the GCC ministers in charge of tourism, held in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday, during which the ministers welcomed a proposal put forward by Bahrain for the project of Gulf Tourism Capital to enhance intra-tourism among the member states and encourage cooperation between them.
The meeting discussed the avenues to bolster the integration between the GCC countries for the advancement of tourism sector and for the utilization of the existing cooperation to facilitate measures of supporting intra-tourism.
The ministers also discussed issues related to the development of joint action between the public and private sectors in the field of tourism. They further highlighted the importance of preparing a strategy for joint tourism action in the GCC countries, along with coordinating regional and international cooperation in the field of tourism.
