Rabat (IINA) – The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) strongly condemned the destruction of the ancient Arch of Triumph in the Syrian city of Palmyra by ISIS terrorist group.
"The destruction of this iconic 2,000-year-old cultural monument of Palmyra is a heinous crime against history and civilization, and despicable act that can only be committed by ignorant criminals who do not know the value of cultural relics, which have been preserved by the successive generations over hundreds of years, especially throughout the Islamic history, since the beginning of Islam to date," ISESCO said in a statement obtained by the International Islamic News Agency (IINA) on Monday.
ISESCO called on the international community to "fight terrorist organizations that wreak havoc in the region, and to mobilize all efforts to that end, adding that fighting terrorism should not be in a similar way of today's targeting of Syrian revolution forces by the Russian troops and the forces of the Syrian regime, while ISIS continues to expand, damage and contribute to deepening the tragedy of the oppressed Syrian people ".
