Cairo (IINA) – Chairman of Human Rights Committee of the Arab League Dr Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami expressed sorrow over the serious deterioration of human rights in Yemen, saying that the people in that country suffer from daily killing, displacement and depletion of national resources, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Addressing a symposium at the Arab League headquarters, Dr Al-Yami said a team from the Arab League Human Rights Committee concluded a fact-finding visit to Yemen from 11 to 13 September following the liberation of Aden. He added that those Houthi criminals who committed violations of human rights in Yemen should be held accountable.
Al-Yami stated that his team also suggested a number of recommendations to tackle the human rights situation in Yemen. The Arab Human Rights Committee was created in March 2009 pursuant to Article 45 of the Arab Charter and consists of seven members elected by secret ballot by states parties, to serve for a term of four years. The Committee consists of state nationals who are independent and impartial.
