Brussels (IINA) РRacist and anti-Islam slogans were sprayed onto different buildings in the Belgian municipality of Vilvorde on Friday night, due to a welcome centre for asylum seekers opening in the Braban̤on commune on Wednesday, according to the local mayor Hans Bonte (Socialist party).
A banner saying “Refugees not welcome”” was put up at the Asiat site, which could house up to 124 refugees, The Brussels Times reported.
The walls of the Town Hall were also covered with the slogan “Islam get out of here” and a swastika. Graffiti criticizing socialism was found on the building of the General Federation of Belgian Labor (FGTB) – a socialist national trade union federation in Belgium.
The mayor asked for these hateful messages to be cleaned off as quickly as possible, and for an investigation to be opened to find those responsible.
