Mogadishu, (IINA) - Somali-Canadian rapper K'naan Warsame has posted photos on social media of his arrival in the holy city of Madinah on his way to Makkah to perform Hajj, in an action that was praised by his fans, according to media reports.
The Muslim poet and singer was accompanied by his mother and sister in their lifetime journey during which they will spend three weeks in the KIngdom.
“Standing before Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi, with Prophet Mohammad’s (peace be upon him) house and burial site behind me, Madinah has a living and breathing history, one of the most enchanting cities on the planet,” K’naan wrote, Nep Journal reported.
“Praying here with my beautiful mother and sister – this is a childhood dream come true.”
Born in 1978 in Mogadishu in the southeastern Banaadir province of Somalia, K’naan migrated while he was a 9-year old with his family in the early 90s and eventually settled in Canada’s Toronto, where he developed his brilliant lyrical talent.
In 2010, he made a huge success after his single “Wavin’ Flag” was chosen as Coca Cola’s promotional anthem for the FIFA World Cup.
K’naan’s photos in Makkah were praised by his fans who wished him a peaceful journey.
