Jeddah, (IINA) - The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani has expressed his shock and dismay towards the harsh treatment of Syrian refugees by the Hungarian Police, saying that using tear gas and water canon to disperse the protesting Syrian refugees who sought to enter the country from Serbia was unacceptable.
Madani called on the Hungarian government to respect the international humanitarian law and the human rights of the refugees who were forced to escape from their country due to the civil war and the grievous human rights atrocities committed against them.
In a contrary context, the Secretary General praised the positive action that was taken by the European Parliament when it voted in favor of relocating 120,000 refugees who are currently in Italy, Greece and Hungary.
