Mina (IINA) - Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, security spokesman at the Ministry of Interior, said that there has so far been not any single terror-related incident or subversive acts reported during the Hajj season. While addressing a joint press conference of the commanders of security forces taking part in Hajj in Mina on Tuesday, he said that more than 500 family members of the security personnel who martyred while engaged in their duty are performing Hajj at the expense of the ministry.
The security authorities have prevented as many as 358,756 people who tried to enter Makkah and holy sites to perform Hajj without a permit, according to a senior security official. Col. Sami Al-Shuwairekh, commander of the media and awareness wing at the Public Security, said that the number of vehicles either seized or sent back while transporting pilgrims without a Hajj permit reached 132,767. Al-Shuwairekh said that the authorities have started legal action against 70 bogus offices engaged in cheating pilgrims. A total of 1,636 transporters were detained for carrying illegal pilgrims, he added.
