Jerusalem (IINA) – The Islamic-Christian Commission in support of Jerusalem and Holy Sites warned on Wednesday against seizure of a large portion of Bab Al-Rahma cemetery next to Al Aqsa Mosque by members of the so-called Israeli Nature Authority.
The Commission denounced Israel’s continued desecration of Muslim cemeteries in Jerusalem, especially the Bab al-Rahma and Ma'man Allah cemeteries.
It noted that the recent takeover of Bab al-Rahma cemetery is only a new assault against the Muslim-Christian endowments and sanctities to be added to the series of the daily attacks and violations of the occupation authorities in Jerusalem and other occupied Palestinian territories.
"This takeover is not the first, it was preceded by the seizure of 1,800 meters from the same cemetery, in order to Judaize the land and to establish tourist pathways and Talmudic landmarks, aiming to give the Jewish character to the cemetery and to strip it off its Arab origin and Islamic history," said Dr Hanna Issa, the Secretary General of the Commission.
