Cairo (IINA) – The Standing Committee for Legal Affairs of the Arab League has adopted the commemoration of Arab Human Rights Day, to be observed in March 2016, under the slogan: "Human dignity for all."
During the 144th session of the Arab League Council, held here on Wednesday at the level of permanent representatives, the Committee discussed several important topics, the foremost of which was the amended draft statute of the Administrative Tribunal of the Arab League.
It also reviewed the recommendations of the 38th regular session of the Permanent Arab Committee on Human Rights, held last June, to discuss a report from the General Secretariat of the Arab League on the steps taken to implement the Committee's recommendations, and to tackle the Israeli violations of human rights in the occupied Arab territories.
The Committee further debated the conditions of the Arab prisoners and detainees in the Israeli jails, as well as the bodies of Palestinian martyrs held by Israel at Al Arqam graveyard.
Furthermore, it discussed the Arab Charter on Human Rights and the Arab plan to promote the culture of human rights, beside the amendment draft of the internal rules of procedure of the Permanent Arab Committee on Human Rights.
