Zagreb, (IINA) - Croatia's Interior Ministry stated that the country has closed several border crossings with Serbia on Thursday as the migration crisis moved to its soil and more than 11,000 people arrived during the last two days, DPA reported.
The ministry stated that it has provisionally shut down seven crossings. However, the main crossing of Bajakovo-Batrovci on Zagreb highway was unaffected.
Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic warned that Croatia could close its borders with Serbia if refugees continue to arrive in massive numbers.
"All housing capacities foreseen for the accommodation of illegal migrants are full", Ostojic said. "Croatia is now preparing additional reception centers".
In a related development, Budapest has built a fence laced with razor wire along its border with Serbia and announced plans to extend it east and west, to borders with Romania and Croatia.
