Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – One more missing Malaysian pilgrim's body has been identified, bringing the death toll in a crane collapse at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Friday to five while two pilgrims remain unaccounted for, Malaysia’s New Straits Times online reported.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom said the victims will be buried in Makkah with the other victims whose names announced on Sunday. He said two more Malaysian pilgrims are still missing and authorities are doing their best to search for them.
Jamil thanked the Saudi government, its embassy and Malaysian embassy in Saudi Arabia for its quick action and organized management in handling the tragedy.
Jamil said that he and Lembaga Tabung Haji chairman Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim will be departing for Makkah this morning, to be with the injured victims and family members of those who died, and also to assist with search efforts.
"We will be going to meet the victims and family members. Be with them as many are distraught over what has happened," he said, adding: "We will also overlook those who are injured, hopefully they can carry out their pilgrimage."
The minister explained that out of the 10 pilgrims who were injured, five were allowed to return to their accommodation, while three are still at Saudi hospitals and two at a medical centre.
