Mina (IINA) – The Saudi Civil Defense forces participating in the implementation of the emergency response plan during this Hajj season are on high alert to deal with the potential risks associated with the departure of large numbers of pilgrims, who hasten to leave Mina to perform the farewell tawaf on Dhul Hijjah 12.
Commander of the Civil Defense forces in Mina Maj. Gen. Ali Al-Otaibi stressed the readiness of civil defense units to bid farewell to the pilgrims who will start leaving Mina on Saturday afternoon. He added that all preventive measures have been taken to maintain the pilgrims’ safety on the roads leading to the Jamarat complex in Mina and the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
Al-Otaibi explained that civil defense personnel on motorbikes equipped with fire extinguishers will be accompanying the pilgrims on their way to the Holy Mosque, in order to deal with all accidents. He stated that the motoring teams in all the tunnels used by the pilgrims will be intensified to measure the ratio of carbon emission and report any exceed in the allowable limits, so that ventilation and disinfection actions could be done to ensure the pilgrims’ safety.
Al-Otaibi affirmed that all Civil Defense teams and units in Mina will remain in their positions until the end of Hajj actions, for supporting the civil defense force in Makkah. He noted that the preventive supervision teams have conducted inspection tours of all the camps of the pilgrims who will leave on Saturday, to make sure that there are no risk sources that could threaten the safety of the remaining pilgrims.
Meanwhile, commander of the Civil Defense in Makkah Grand Mosque Col. Mahdi al-Fahmi was quoted by the Saudi Press Agency saying: “There is an increase in the number of the civil defense units stationing inside the Grand Mosque and its vast courtyards to guarantee rapid intervention and provision of emergency services to both the pilgrims who will leave on Saturday and those who will stay, in coordination with the teams of the Saudi Red Crescent and health affairs.
