Jeddah (IINA) - Australia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop announced Thursday the reappointment of Ahmed Fahour as Australia’s Special Envoy to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The re-appointment of Fahour reflects Australia’s firm commitment to our relationship with the OIC, and our long-standing bonds with OIC members, including countries in the Indo-Pacific region and across the Middle East.
Fahour will identify opportunities for further cooperation with the OIC to advance our interests, including countering violent extremism, promoting interfaith dialogue and boosting trade relations with member nations.
Fahour was first appointed as Australia’s OIC Special Envoy in June 2011. He brings extensive experience to the role of Special Envoy, including as former Chair of the Council for Australian Arab Relations.
Fahour’s role is in addition to his current position as Managing Director and Group CEO of Australia Post.
