Ramallah (IINA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met here on Monday with EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Fernando Gentilini.
During the meeting, the Palestinian president briefed the EU envoy on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.
Abbas reiterated the Palestinian side's commitment to achieving peace through negotiations to create an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also stressed the significance of the political role of Europe in the making of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, besides its important economic support to the Palestinian people.
