Jordanian FM holds talks with Norwegian counterpart

Oslo, (IINA) - Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh held talks with Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende on ways to cement bilateral relations between Jordan and Norway as well as development in the Middle East, Petra reported.
Judeh said during the meeting which took place on Monday, the Scandinavian nation has a key role in supporting peacemaking between the Palestinians and Israelis in addition to its role as a major donor nation, adding that Jordan is keen to strike closer cooperation and coordination with Norway on various issues.
The meeting discussed efforts to combat extremism and terrorism, which do not only threaten the Middle East but the whole world.
On the Palestinian cause, they stressed the importance of launching serious and effective peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis to bring about the two-state solution.
The talks touched on the tough financial situation the UNRWA is experiencing. The ministers stressed the need for more international assistance to the agency. They also discussed the crises in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen and called for pursuing peaceful and political means to settle the conflicts in these countries.
