Amman, (IINA) - The Syrian Refugees Affairs Department received 31 vehicles that were purchased through a project financed by the Japanese government to improve the safety and security of Syrian refugees at the Azraq Camp in Jordan, Petra reported.
A press release issued by the Japanese embassy in Amman on Tuesday said that the Japanese government had financed the project, which was implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services.
It added that a ceremony was held at the camp to deliver the vehicles in the presence of Director of the Syrian Refugees Affairs Department Wadah Hmoud, Security Director at Azraq Camp Colonel Atef Omoush, Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Shuichi Sakurai as well as the representative of the United Nations Office for Project Services, Bana Kaloti.
The Japanese government allocated $1.5 million for this project to enhance the capabilities of the Syrian Refugees Affairs Department.
