Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold on Tuesday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah a workshop on confronting threats and incitement to violence and extremism in cyberspace, with the participation of cyber security experts from the OIC member states.
Wajdi Ibn Humaid Al Quliti, director of Information Technology Department at the OIC, said that organizing the workshop comes within implementing the recommendations of the Executive Committee meeting, held last February at the ministerial level, on fighting terrorism and violent extremism. He pointed out that the ministers called for convening of experts meeting to discuss ways to deal with cyber security threats.
Al Quliti said that the workshop will discuss topics pertaining to the definition of terrorist activities in cyberspace and identifying the rationale and motivation behind the cyber security threats. He added that the workshop will conclude with recommendations providing a framework for action and ways of financial and human resources provision to prevent cyber-threats.
