Rabat, (IINA) - The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Altwaijri condemned the reluctance of the international community to stand by Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims who are subjected to genocide by the country’s Buddhist extremists in clandestine support of the government.
Dr Altwaijri said in a statement to the media that thousands of Rohingyas were killed and their homes and mosques burned, and thousands of others displaced, deprived of shelter and food, and stranded both on land and at sea, with only a few of the world’s wise caring for their suffering.
The Director General deemed the plight of the Rohingya Muslims a stain on the conscience of the world, especially the major powers as they have the ability to stop such massacres and tragedies through the Security Council.
Dr Altwaijri called on the member states to push for a resolution by the Security Council under Chapter VII of the UN Charter in a bid to put an end to these heinous crimes against the helpless Rohingya Muslims.
