Doha (IINA) – Kuwait’s Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Yaaqoub al-Sanae said Tuesday that the Gulf Cooperation Council states have approved a Kuwait-proposed strategy to confront extremist ideologies, KUNA reported.
“The state of Kuwait tabled this strategy at a meeting of GCC’s ministers of Awqaf earlier on Tuesday, and it was approved by the executives, Al-Sanae, who is also minister of justice, told KUNA after the meeting.
Kuwait, he added, also presented a study of strategy on the creation of an integrated system, especially dedicated for awqaf and Islamic affairs.
Al-Sanae said the ministers discussed ways of exchanging expertise over the fight against extremist and takfiri ideologies.
He said they also agreed to hold a Gulf Waqf Week, and to establish a department assigned with promoting culture of waqf.
