Cairo (IINA) –  Arab League Secretary General Dr Nabil Elaraby met with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad in New York on Sunday, KUNA reported.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the high-level thematic debate on strengthening cooperation between the United Nations and regional and sub-regional organizations, according to a statement issued by the office of the League chief in Cairo.
During the meeting, Elaraby said the league fully backs up the efforts of the UN envoy to resume serious and substantive dialogue among representatives of the broad political spectrum in Yemen.
He wished the UN envoy success in his mission to help bring out the Arab country from the current crisis and resume dialogue based on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) initiative for Yemen and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
