GCC welcomes appointment of Bahah as Yemen’s Vice-President

Yemen's Vice-President Bahah



Riyadh (IINA) – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has welcomed the decision of Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to appoint Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah as vice president, in addition to retaining his post as prime minister, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

In a statement on Monday, the GCC described the appointment as an important step to strengthen the efforts of President Hadi to restore security and stability to Yemen.

GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani said that member states would continue supporting President Hadi and Vice President Khaled Bahah as well as other political forces adhering to the constitutional legitimacy for the completion of the political process in accordance with the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, as well as the outcome of the comprehensive national dialogue, and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
