Bamako (IINA) – A civilian was killed and three members of the same family were wounded on Sunday after militants shelled Gao, the largest city in northern Mali, according to hospital and security sources.

The sources added that the deceased and the injured are all members of the same family, who were asleep when a rocket landed on their home, adding that at least three rockets were fired on Gao by terrorists.

The incident comes in the wake of an attack on a Red Cross mission near Gao, which left an aid worker dead. The extremist Movement for Tawhid and Jihad in West Africa claimed responsibility for the attack.
