10th session of COMIAC will kick off in Dakar on Tuesday

Dakar (IINA) – The 10th session of the OIC Standing Committee for Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC) will kick off in the Senegalese capital Dakar on Tuesday.
The session, with the theme of “Role of the Youth and Media for Peace and Stability in the Muslim World,”  will be inaugurated by President of Senegal and Chairman of COMIAC Macky Sall in the presence of OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani and several ministers in charge of information and cultural affairs in the OIC member states.
The two-day session will discuss a number of issues, notably, inter-cultural and inter-civilizational dialogue and the efforts of the OIC General Secretariat and the affiliated organs in this regard. It will also discuss the role of the media in the Muslim world in supporting the cause of Jerusalem and Palestine.
It will further discuss ways to improve performance of joint Islamic action institutions and strengthening their role to protect and defend the true image of Islam, combating stereotypes about Islam and Muslims, raising the world’s awareness to the dangers of pervasive Islamophobia and how to counter it, as well as ways of enhancing COMIAC and its coordination role.
