Thursday 05 Mar 2015 - 16:04 Makkah mean time-14-5-1436  Kuwait City (Internet/image) Kuwait City (IINA) – Kuwait will host the “International Women Day .. towards Empowerment” Summit on Sunday, with the participation of around 600 personalities from across the globe, KUNA reported.
Bashayer Al-Awadi, head of the steering committee, said at a news conference held here on Thursday that the participants would tackle diverse issues, namely impact of mounting extremism and "Arab spring" events on women status in the Arab countries. She noted that the summit will be wrapped up with the issuance of some recommendations to be included in Kuwait's development strategy.
The summit aims to make women's voices heard around the world, Al-Awadi said, as well as rendering Kuwait City "the capital for women in 2015. She added that efforts will be made to "attain this title officially". A statue will be erected at the conference venue to symbolize the summit logo, which will be adorned with the signatures of the participants to express the sentiments of admiration toward the Kuwait's Emir, the "Humanitarian Leader,” she added.
