Beijing, (IINA) - Kazakhstan and China on Friday signed 33 cooperation deals worth US $23.6 billion during Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Masimov's visit to China, news agencies reported Monday.

The agreements were signed during Masimov's meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang, and cover cooperation in steel, nonferrous metals, sheet glass, oil refining, hydropower plants, and automobile production.

Also, the initiatives include the construction of highways, urban railways, wind power plants and other infrastructure.

The deal which, was signed last week, is the first of an expected harvest from a preliminary consensus about the export of China’s advanced industrial capacity to oil-dependent Kazakhstan that the two leaders agreed to during Li’s visit to the country in December.

“We sowed the seeds in Kazakhstan in winter, and now the seeds have thrived,” Li said during the meeting with Masimov.

Masimov also, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who praised the increasingly strong ties between the two countries and called for enhanced cooperation within the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Masimov, accompanied by his investment minister, energy minister and corporate leaders, said the initial success signals a bright outlook for future cooperation.
