Egypt Supports Saudi Step, announces its intention to participate in the military operation against Houthis

Thursday 26 Mar 2015 - 10:09 Makkah mean time-6-6-1436 Riyadh (IINA) - Egypt announced, last night, its political and military support for the step taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a coalition of more than ten countries in support of the legitimate government in Yemen, Saudi Press Agency. In a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, noted that the Egyptian government is currently conducting coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, on participation's arrangements by Egyptian air and naval force, and even a ground force, if necessary, in the framework of the alliance. The statement explained that this was in order to defend the security and stability of Yemen, preserve its territorial integrity and the maintenance of security of Arab countries. The statement also noted that Egypt followed up with great concern over the last weeks the severe deterioration in the political and security situation in the brotherly Yemen, and what has been witnessed of attack on the legitimate institutions and the spread of violence and terrorism, a matter which Egypt announced its full rejection of it and called for the full implementation of the outputs of the national dialogue and respect legitimacy. The statement pointed out that Egypt's support for this move, comes in response to its request, emanating from its historical responsibilities towards the Arab national security and the security of the Arab Gulf region.
