Khartoum (IINA) – Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Saturday praised the role of the State of Qatar in implementing the Doha Peace Agreement on Darfur, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
He said that Qatar understood the problem and worked patiently on offering solutions that helped regain peace and stability to the region.
President Bashir, who was speaking to Sudanese crowds in West Darfur State, expressed his appreciation of the role played by Qatar to help regain peace in the region. He said that it was Qatar's regional and international efforts that made peace possible in Darfur.
Bashir stated that Qatar established Darfur Development Bank to help finance massive projects in the region. He added that the projects financed by Qatar helped transform Darfur from asking for aid to a productive economy.
The Sudanese president said that the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) helped the people of Darfur to avoid the disasters of war and reach a historic achievement of establishing peace in the region. He highlighted that the Qatari support will not cease until the peace process in Darfur concludes.
