Amman, (IINA) - Jordanian Parliament Speaker Atif Tarawneh met here on Wednesday with a Russian Senate delegation. During the meeting, Tarawneh called for further bolstering the strong relations between the two countries.
He also called for boosting relations in trade, economic, parliamentary and tourism fields especially while taking into account of the fact that Jordan is a safe and well-developed country and has many tourist and religious sites.
Tarawneh noted that the failure to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue will push Arab and Muslim youths further towards extremism and terrorism, Petra News Agency reported.
“It is unrealistic and incorrect to associate Islam with terrorism, because terrorism exists everywhere and has no religion, race or nationality,” he said.
He highlighted that the international community has to close its borders for terrorists, stop providing them with weapons or equipment and prevent facilitating the purchase of oil from them.
The speaker also reviewed the comprehensive reforms that have been implemented by Jordan under the leadership of King Abdullah, which made Jordan and an oasis for security and stability in a turbulent region.
Tarawneh also spoke about burdens the Kingdom shoulders as a result of hosting a large number of refugees, who placed enormous pressure on various sectors.
In return, the delegation voiced hope to increase the number of Russian tourists visiting the Kingdom that enjoys security and stability despite the situation in the region.
