Istanbul, (IINA) - The 13th session of the Islamic Summit on Thursday reaffirmed OIC’s full support for Sudan and the National Dialogue Process, as well as respect for the country’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
It strongly supported political and economic reforms initiated by the government of Sudan, as a crucial step towards fostering peace, stability, and development.
In this regard, it encouraged all the Sudanese parties, including armed movements, to participate in the process.
The summit urged Sudan and South Sudan to maintain good neighborliness and seek to resolve all outstanding issues between them peacefully through dialogue and negotiation.
During his speech, Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir vowed for a complete cessation of hostilities with rebels in all regions “if they showed honest commitment to peace”.
Sudan reiterated its support to the Doha Peace Process on Darfur aimed at establishing peace, security and development in the Darfur region.
In this context, the conference welcomed Sudan's recent decision to open its border with South Sudan.
