Islamic Summit welcomes positive steps made in Tunisia's transition process

Istanbul (IINA) – The 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference, held in Istanbul on April 14-15, welcomed the steps made in Tunisia within the democratic transition process, especially the adoption of a new consensual constitution and the success in the organization of presidential and legislative elections.
In its final communique, the Conference congratulated Tunisia, represented by the National Dialogue Quartet, for the winning of the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize and hailed the role of the Quartet in supporting dialogue and harmony between political parties which enabled Tunisia to achieve peaceful transfer of power.
The Conference also welcomed Tunisia's decision to host the Islamic Conference of Education Ministers, in collaboration with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in October 2016.
Further, the conference condemned the terrorist operations that targeted the town of Ben Guerdane and affirmed the solidarity and support of Islamic countries with the Republic of Tunisia in its efforts to address the scourge of terrorism.
