Moscow (IINA) – Activities of the second international forum of Muslim journalists kicked off in the Russian capital of Moscow on Wednesday, under the theme of "Journalists from Muslim countries against extremism".
The two-day forum, which brought together 43 leading journalists from 19 Muslim countries, is organized by the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World”, which is chaired by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The forum's plenary meeting was opened by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov who is in charge of Russia's relations with the Middle East and Africa, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other international Muslim organizations.
Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ravil Akhmetshin, who is also the plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, read out a message of President Minnikhanov to the participants at the conference.
The issue of fighting terrorism is still the most important, given the fact that winning the war against terrorism requires a unity of effort, because this scourge threatens the whole world and seeks to sow chaos everywhere. The struggle must be carried out at all fronts, including the information and media field.
It is noteworthy that the main purpose of this forum is to continue the discussion on the information policy for the fight against extremism.
